RANDOM THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
The purpose of the IP industry is not creating IP products. The purpose of the industry is in creating systems, services and marketplaces that empower people to build intellectual product and enable conversations on that product. The outcome of these new services is the new product and it now belongs to the people. It's called culture.

The notion that the RIAA was somehow involved in the fashioning of this Ad is a bit of a stretch to me. I noticed there is no freeze frame when the girl says "we are still going to download music off the internet for free." But prosecuted, that word is dissected. I'll bet the pitch was something more like "Hey you know this whole DRM thing is a hot topic right now. We are giving away music, maybe there is a tie-in there? Green Day is a really hot band. Let's get that Green Day cover song in there. We will (and did) sell a bunch of downloads if we do use that song." I think the creator of this ad is distorting the truth as much as he claims Apple/Pepsi/RIAA are distorting it.
